A hiker and his dog have a story to tell after getting stranded in Bear Creek Provincial Park in West Kelowna.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue received a call around 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, for a stranded hiker and his dog below the second lookout in the park on Westside Road.
“The man and his dog were safely retrieved from the steep slope above a cliff by a West Kelowna Fire high-angle rope team,” deputy fire chief Brent Watson said.
There were no injuries.
“The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution out on the trails, especially in areas with loose footing and near steep slopes,” Watson said.
