UPDATE: Fatal collision on highway

The West Kelowna RCMP has reopened Highway 97 southbound at Elk Road following a serious collision earlier today involving a pedestrian.

Reports say the pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle around 11 a.m.

The cause of the incident is not known.

The police thank motorists for their patience.

No further comment is being provided at this time.

Police said the incident involves a pedestrian and motor vehicle in the southbound lane.
