Over 170 structures lost in Bush Creek wildfire
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District says over 170 structures have been lost, and dozens more were damaged, due to the Bush Creek East wildfire.
The CSRD said, as of Monday, September 4, there had been 176 structures lost and 50 others partially damaged.
Those figures were up from the previous count of 131 structures lost and 37 partially damaged.
The CSRD noted the figures were approximate numbers as full damage assessments were not possible due to the active wildfire and other hazards.
The regional district has launched an online tool for North Shuswap area residents to search their addresses and see if their property has been impacted by the blaze.
The new damage estimates were announced just hours after the CSRD said that residents displaced by Bush Creek fire will be able to return to their homes Wednesday.
