Evacuation alerts lifted for Okanagan fire
With the Glen Lake wildfire now being held, all of the remaining evacuation alerts have been lifted and the local state of emergency for the Regional District of Central Okanagan has ended.
The fire, located 6 kilometres west old Peachland, was first discovered on Sept. 16, and is estimated at 1,16 hectares in size.
The decision to rescind the alerts was made by Central Okanagan Emergency Operations, in consultation with the BC Wildfire Service, Peachland Fire Rescue and Regional District of Central Okanagan Fire Services.
The Wildfire Service said work will continue on the Glen Lake wildfire with ground and aerial crews. Crews will continue to focus efforts on the eastern end of the wildfire.
