COVID-19 cases climbing in Interior, B.C.
Cases of COVID-19 have increased regionally and provincially on a weekly basis.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control’s (BCCDC) weekly update stated there were 101 cases of the virus in the Interior between Dec. 3 and 9, part of 413 confirmed throughout B.C.
Those were up from the previous week’s figures of 67 cases in the Interior and 355 in B.C.
In the latest report, the BCCDC stated there were 13 patients in hospital in the Interior with COVID, including six in intensive care units. Those were up from the previous week’s 11 patients in hospital, including two in ICU.
The preliminary death data identified seven suspected of being linked to COVID between Dec. 3 and 9 in the Interior, down from the previous week of 13.
Provincially, there were 114 COVID-positive patients in hospital, including 30 in ICU, and 21 deaths suspected to be linked to the virus.
Comparatively, the week before saw 137 patients in hospital, including 20 in ICU, and there were 38 confirmed COVID deaths across B.C.
