A fire led to the evacuation of a Kelowna apartment building early Monday morning.
The Kelowna Fire Department said around 3 a.m., firefighters responded to alarms at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Pacific Court.
The first arriving officer reported smoke on the third floor and the building was evacuated.
Crews found a fire in the kitchen of a unit on the third floor.
Captain Scott Clarke said the blaze was knocked down by the occupants using fire extinguishers and crews confirmed it was out.
“All residents were able to evacuate. One male resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and transported to KGH by ambulance,” Clarke said.
The captain said the fire is suspicious in nature and is under investigation.
All residents except those from the affected unit were allowed to return after the building was ventilated and checked for air quality.
