Nut farm orchard reopens after fawning season closure
The orchard located in Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park in West Kelowna, has reopened to the public, after a brief closure to allow space for deer fawns and their mothers to recover and move on.
Regional Parks thanks visitors for adhering to closure barriers and posted signage informing the public of the temporary orchard closure.
A reminder to dog owners that dogs are only permitted on the Beach Trail and the access road in Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park and dogs must be on-leash. Dogs are not permitted within the orchard area at any time.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has temporarily closed the Gellatly Nut Farm Orchard for fawning season.
The orchard, located in West Kelowna’s Gellatley Nut Farm Regional park, is closed to the public to allow for the deer fawns and their mother to recover.
Under the RDCO’s Regional Parks Bylaw, anyone caught disobeying signage and closures in regional parks may be fined.
The RDCO reminds the public that dogs are not permitted within the orchard at any time, and must be kept on leash when in other areas of the park.
Additional signage has been posted at the entrances of the park with educational information on what to do when encountering a deer.
The RDCO advises people report human-wildlife conflicts to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service’s Report All Poachers and Polluters hotline at 1-877-952-7277.
