Interior Health has declared a respiratory infection outbreak at Kelowna General Hospital.
The health authority website stated the outbreak was identified in KGH’s 4B Medical Oncology unit Monday, June 17.
Interior Health did not immediately respond to Vernon Matters request for details on the outbreak, including how many patients and staff were infected.
IH’s website said signs would be posted at the hospital identifying the outbreak.
To limit the risk of further transmission, hospital staff are utilizing more personal protective equipment, the cleaning and sanitization practices are being enhanced, non-urgent appointments may be rescheduled, and patients are being encouraged to remain in their rooms if possible.
