Kelowna extending contract for e-scooters, e-bikes
Residents and visitors to Kelowna will be able to have the micromobility option for a few more years.
The City of Kelowna has extended its contract with Lime for the e-scooters and e-bikes for another two years.
The decision to extend the program came as the city said there had been over a million rides on the scooters and bikes since they became available 3.5 years ago.
“Throughout their time operating in Kelowna, staff have reviewed feedback from residents and adjusted the program with Lime to better meet the community’s needs,” Cameron Noonan, the city’s Transportation Planner, stated.
“Over two million kilometres have now been ridden, with roughly half of those trips replacing a car trip, meaning less traffic on city roads.”
The city reminds people that double riding is not permitted on e-bikes and e-scooters, and that riders should wear a helmet and not be intoxicated.
