Well known Kelowna personality, Eddy Haymour, has died, at the age of 96.
Haymour was known as a dreamer and entrepreneur who bought Rattlesnake Island in 1971, hoping to build a world-class destination there.
His bold, but unfulfilled vision sparked controversy and made him one of British Columbia’s most talked-about figures at the time.
In posting about her father’s death on social media, daughter Fadwa Haymour described her father as a visionary and champion of justice. She said he was never a man to do anything small-scale.
Haymour used a settlement payment from the province to build Castle Haymour, a middle-eastern themed stone castle in Peachland.
