The mysterious way that the Jeep enters the mall is ever-changing (because I keep changing the story)!
11am – 12:43pm & 3 – 4:43pm: Orchard Park Shopping Centre (2271 Harvey Ave)
TWO chances to win tickets to Rock the Lake’s Aug. 11 show, ONE convenient location! Usually when I spend an entire day inside a mall, it’s Christmas (and I’ve spent too much). Today, it was a double-dose of entering the Jeep Free Ride contest. As per usual, once I am parked at the intersection by the Food Court, the sun shines down through the windowed ceiling, and I see what a crummy job I did of “drying” the just-washed Jeep. Generally, it involves dirty spots being spread over clean spots. In the shade, it’s nearly undetectable. Not so in direct sunlight. Thankfully, I have Deborah, a spunky contest-goer who casually pointed out that I have not kept “her” Jeep clean. Since I was on the clock and entering others into the contest, she graciously volunteered to perform spot-checks. I handed her a roll of paper towel, and my water bottle, and off she went! Before I knew it, the Jeep was looking exactly how I intended it to! Thanks Deborah!
I also got to meet Fergus, one of Beach Radio’s “Swoop-case Party” winners! Fergus won a trip to Vegas last month (before the other finalists were also surprised with trips to Vegas too!), and he stopped by my table to chat! He got the Vegas treatment: Ceasar’s Palace upgraded his suite, the car rental company upgraded his vehicle, and he gave me $5,000 to pick his name for the Jeep! (one of those statements is false, can you guess which one??) Fergus entered the Swoop-case Party on this website, but his original purpose for going to beachradiokelowna.ca was to enter for the Jeep! And he got a trip to Vegas out of it! It just goes to show, keep checking our website for the latest in contests; there is always something going on!
One guy asked me how I got the Jeep inside the mall; I told him to look up, see the skylight? It opens like a book, and an elevator-like pad descends the Jeep to the mall floor, and is driven off. I think he believed me. The truth is… nah, let’s stick with the invisible elevator, it’s more fun!
Thanks to Aly and Mackenzie from the Events Crew for holding down the Jeep fort while I was on lunch, and for assisting me during the afternoon!
