I’ve never actually thought I was going to get struck by lightning until today…
11am – 12:43pm: The Rocket Wash (150 Edwards Road)
It’s my first time at The Rocket Wash, on the corner of Edwards and Highway 97, and Mother Nature decided to have fun with me. I drove through some heavy downpour on my way up to the first remote of the day, and had told Jim the owner that I was going to get a wash when I arrived in the Jeep. I got some great filth on the Jeep! This isn’t your typical automated wash though; there’s a pre-wash spray down to get that first layer of dirt off, and then once you’re through the soap and dry, two men hand dried the Jeep! It was so shiny and clean! As I parked on the corner beneath the Husky gas sign, the clouds rolled over head and began booming. I erected my Beach Radio flag, and CRACK! A bolt of lightning flickered across the dark sky, and a thunderous roar scared the heck out of me! I thought “If I don’t get away from this flag immediately, I am getting struck.” So I hightailed it back to my table undercover, and survived. Phew!
