The contest is closed, but the stories continue!
Following the final Free Ride stop on Thursday afternoon, the Jeep was scheduled to enter the Rock the Lake grounds downtown at Prospera Place. Upon arrival, security met me at the gate. While he attended to me, I noticed a couple of middle-age dudes wander in the vehicle access, just curious looky-loos. My security friend was not having it (probably because it’s his job), so he chased them down. When he got back he waved me in, and as I rolled past the two guys, I commented “Almost got in!” And we all shared a laugh. Rock the Lake brings people together.
To the right of the stage is the Beach Radio VIP tent, and the Jeep’s temporary home for the duration of Rock the Lake. As I crept through the parking lot, watching the crew set up the stage, I noticed the odometer roll to 3,050 km. A nice even number, my first thought was; the Jeep will be parked at Rock the Lake 2019, presented by 103-1 Beach Radio, with 3,050 km. Then came an explosion of mathematical realization.
3050 – 2019 = 1031
