Special enforcement team seize drugs, gun, cash and vehicle
Police are calling it a “significant” seizure of illicit drugs.
Two alleged drug dealers are facing trafficking charges after three residential search warrants were executed in Kelowna last week.
Members of the RCMP Special Enforcement Team executed the warrants simultaneously as well as the search and seizure of a vehicle directly connected to the proceeds of crime on Sept. 19, two on rental units on Academy Way, and a third residence in the 1400 block of Glenmore Road North where it was believed that illegal drug trafficking was taking place.
Two men, aged 20 and 29, were arrested in relation to several offences including, drug trafficking, possession of stolen property and firearms related offences.
“Approximately 1.5 kilograms of illegal substances including cocaine, fentanyl, heroine, oxycodone and methamphetamine were seized along with a stolen 9 mm handgun and large sum of cash,” said Sgt. Alex Lynch of the Kelowna Street Enforcement Unit.
Officers also seized a 2012 Acura TL as proceeds of crime.
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests and formal charges are forthcoming.
“This significant seizure of illicit drugs and the arrests made are the result of the continuing effort made by the Kelowna RCMP to identify drug dealers and dismantle organized crime in our community, specifically dial-a-dopers and other drug trafficking groups,” said Lynch.
