NDP leader to hold ‘final rally’ in Okanagan
One of the federal party leaders will be in the Okanagan this weekend as the election campaign winds down.
Jagmeet Singh of the NDP will be in Penticton Saturday night for what the party calls “the final rally of the campaign” to support candidate and incumbent MP Richard Cannings who is in a tight race with Conservative candidate Helena Konanz for the South Okanagan West Kootenay riding.
“I’m excited to feel the energy of the campaign in Penticton,” said Singh. “Everyday families are fed up with life getting harder for them under Liberals and Conservatives, while it gets easier for the ultra-wealthy. New Democrats are on your side, and this election, you can vote for what you believe in.”
The election projection website 338Canada suggests Cannings has 34 per cent of projected support to Konanz’s 30 per cent.
“Richard Cannings has been a strong and effective MP,” said Singh. “We need you to send him back to Ottawa to get things done for people in South Okanagan-West Kootenay.”
Doors for the rally will open at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Convention Centre, Salon A.
