Residents out of their homes after fire
Seven adults, three children and several pets have been displaced from their homes after a fire damaged a four unit complex on Valleyview Road in Kelowna this morning.
“At approximately 9:41 a.m. Kelowna Fire Department dispatch received numerous 911 calls reporting heavy black smoke and flames coming from the rear of a residence in the 100 block of Valleyview Road,” said Kelly Stephens, Platoon Captain.
A basement and upper suite had fire and smoke damage, and a dog was found dead inside one residence.
“Fire was quickly knocked down but not before fire and smoke had damaged half of the basement and upper suite. No occupants were injured,” said Stephens.
The cause is under investigation but not considered suspicious.
Emergency Support Services will be looking after the residents impacted.
