Actor Ryan Reynolds is a gifted comic actor. He’s a master of quick wit.
This talent has spread to marketing his line of gin.
Following the sudden and surprising negative viral reaction to home exercise cycle company Peloton’s commercial about a wife being grateful to her husband for surprising her with a Peloton bike for Christmas, Reynolds’ trademark quickness sprang into action.
His gin company Aviation found the actor (Monica Ruiz) who portrayed the exercising woman, and sat her at a bar with a couple of gal-pals. Clearly dumbstruck by all the weird attention that her commercial has had, Reynolds’ manages to reference reality without mentioning it at all.
It’s brilliant and timely, and comes with a great last word; “you look great, by the way.”
Note the title of the ads, it’s pure Reynolds sarcasm.
