Fire causes residence to collapse
An unoccupied home was damaged by a fire in the 3600 block of Lakeshore Road in Kelowna Wednesday night.
The Kelowna Fire Department had numerous 911 calls reporting the residence on fire around 6:30 p.m.
“On scene, the first arriving officer confirmed a working fire with flames coming from the second story windows and roof of the residence,” said platoon captain Dennis Miller. “The crews performed a defensive attack from the exterior and protected the other residences to the north and south.”
Miller said fire crews remained on scene into Thursday morning as part of the building collapsed and the building had not been completely extinguished.
No occupants were living in the home at the time of the fire.
Miller says the cause has not been determined and will be investigated Thursday.
